But Once A Year is not one of Cary’s farces. It is a gentle comedy about a family trying to have a happy Christmas despite the presence of the difficult Aunt Topsey and the easily offended Uncle Ned.

Add the presence of a mysterious visitor who seems able to do magic and a love triangle involving both daughters of the family and you have a typical Cary comedy.
